Refurbished mid-1900s Lionel Ship-log Register, Rotor, Sinker, and Governor . These registers are mounted on the taffrail (stern), while a line connected rotor (with Governor attached) is drug through the water. The register records the rotors revolutions and converts them into nautical miles. The 4¼ face is signed as follows: œTYPE TL œTAFFRAIL LOG œManufactured by THE LIONEL CORPORATION œNEW YORK, N.Y.. The large dial reads form 0 to 100 nautical miles while the small dial reads from one-tenth to one nautical mile. The brass register measures 11 Long x 5 Wide x 6 Deep and has the swivel mount. The attached cast iron Governor is stamped œTL 59 and measures 17 Long x 4 Wide and is connected to the register by a 12 x 3/8" cotton line. The rotor assembly includes a 15 x 6 rotor, 6 x 1¼ sinker, and 27 of half inch braided cotton line. One rotor fin is stamped as follows: Lionels Trademark plus œTHE LIONEL CORPORATION œNEW YORK N.Y. œTYPE TL. Both cotton lines have been œwhipped at both ends. All the components in this assembly weigh 15 pounds. These finely crafted nautical artifacts represent a rare collection of international. maritime history.
